Remembering Louise Myers – Iona’s Former Executive Director
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Louise Myers. Louise Myers was a pivotal leader at Iona, known for her remarkable dedication to serving others. As Iona’s executive director from the late 90s into the 2000s, Louise integrated key business principles that propelled the organization forward, enabling us to uphold Iona’s mission today. Even after her tenure, she continued to support executive directors that came after her and encouraged staff over the past two decades. Louise’s Bio
Louise Myers was an international healthcare consultant with experience in East Africa, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, South America, the Caucasus Region and the Balkans. She worked with the USAID Health Finance and Governance Project in Botswana and Haiti, and with Health Volunteers Overseas in Bhutan establishing a pilot project in Hospital Administration. Other consulting assignments included work with USAID health systems strengthening projects in Ethiopia, The Republic of Georgia, Malawi and Albania. Ms. Myers was Project Director with OR International for the development of the Bokamoso Private Hospital in Gaborone, Botswana, a 200-bed private, not-for-profit tertiary care facility. Hospital commissioning was January 2010. In addition to her international consulting work, Ms. Myers was a consultant with Management Solutions Consulting Group working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration on primary healthcare site assessments. Ms. Myers worked for twenty years at The George Washington University Medical Center in a series of executive management positions including Associate Administrator for Facilities Development and Associate Administrator for Operations. For over five years she served as the Executive Director of Iona Senior Services, a model community and home-based senior services program in Washington, DC. In 2002, Ms. Myers was an official U.S. Delegate to the United Nations World Assembly on Aging in Madrid, Spain.
