The Eldercare Consultant Services Program is for employers seeking to provide their employees comprehensive, individualized support and resources to assist in:

  • 1) Caring for older adults in their lives
  • 2) Planning ahead for their own retirement and aging
The eldercare consultant provides confidential, one-on-one consultations, guidance, support, and crisis counseling related to eldercare. The consultant can identify resources available to older individuals and their caregivers; assist clients in navigating systems and accessing services; and support clients around caregiving roles, challenges, and rewards. The Eldercare Consultant Services Program supports employee productivity by reducing the stress and distractions of caregiving, limiting the amount of time and effort employees must spend on care management, and minimizing absenteeism, presenteeism, and staff turnover due to caregiving responsibilities.

The eldercare consultant is available to work with the client’s broader support network as needed; this may include spouses, siblings, grandchildren, friends, and others involved in an older adult’s life. At a client’s request and with appropriate authorizations, the consultant may also confer and coordinate with healthcare and other professionals providing services to an older individual.

  • Organizational needs assessment: we determine what types of eldercare consulting services would best serve your employees’ needs.
  • Individual eldercare consultations: we provide one-on-one consultations with your employees to provide comprehensive, individualized support for their caregiving challenges. • Eldercare Information and Referral Warmline: a lower-cost option that provides telephone or email expert responses to employee caregiver inquiries, up to 30 minutes per inquiry, delivered within two business days.
  • Eldercare Expert Office Hours: another lower-cost option that provides eldercare consultant appointments for a specific block of time (e.g., monthly, semi-annually).
  • Aging and Eldercare Webinars: live and recorded, delivered to your workforce by our experts.
  • Caregiver support group facilitation: create a safe space for caregiving peers to gather for mutual support, facilitated by a licensed social worker with aging and eldercare expertise.
  • Aging Solo: bring Iona’s national award-winning program to your workplace to help your employees take charge of their aging
  • DEI training: our trainers shine a light on agism in the workplace and on the disparate impacts of elder caregiving on women and people of color in the workforce.
  • Program promotion/outreach activities: we reach out to your workforce to inform them about eldercare consulting services and other work-life benefits that support them both on and off the job.
