Community Programs

At Iona, we offer tailored programs and services for D.C. residents aged 60 and older. Whether planning for the future or seeking immediate support, our community programs, funded by grants and subsidies, are here to help.

Finding Community

Finding community is essential to maintaining good health and wellbeing at any age. Research shows that people who are socially isolated are more likely to become sick, have trouble sleeping, or die early. Support systems play a vital role in lengthening and improving the quality of our lives.

Explore Iona’s programs to find community and support for wherever you are on your aging journey.

Food and Nutrition

Our food and nutrition needs change as we age. Older adults are at greater risk for malnutrition and often experience changes in appetite, taste, and ability to chew. In addition, many older adults live on a fixed income that makes paying for healthy food on top of monthly expenses next to impossible.

Washington, DC has the third highest rate of senior hunger in the nation, with 11.2% of older adults reporting that they don’t have enough food to eat.

Explore Iona’s programs to see how we can support your food and nutrition needs.
