Iona Senior Services proudly presents Stay Moving with Parkinson’s disease, supported by a community grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation. Taught by a physical therapist using evidence-based exercise interventions, this free class is for people with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers.
This program also provides monthly education to caregivers and community members addressing PD pathology, progression, exercise techniques, and modifiable fall risk factors in the home setting.
To register for the class, participants must provide a valid physician’s prescription certifying that they are appropriate to participate in a group exercise class and have a diagnosis of PD or Parkinsonism. Participants must also sign a liability waiver prior to participation.
Pre-screenings are REQUIRED, and will be held in the afternoon on: April 17, 19, 24, and 26. Call (202) 895-9448 to schedule a time for pre-screening.
This 12-week session begins on May 6, 2019. There are two sessions that meet on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.

Pre-screenings are scheduled on an individual basis with the physical therapist. Call (202) 895-9448 for more information. During the pre-screening, you can discuss class time preference with the physical therapist.
